Symptoms

When performing a backup restore via pkgacct or the "Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account" tool in WHM, the backup restoration process stops at the following:

AutoDomains
    Running AutoDomains script

From here the restore cannot be stopped and never proceeds.

This occurs on accounts that have large files located in the backup, such as large MySQL databases.

Description

The "AutoDomains" script attempts to rewrite any temporary domains that may exist from the old server to be compatible with the new server.  This includes renaming document roots if required to reflect the updated hostname. If the backup has large files, this process stalls and the backup cannot proceed.

We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-49084. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product.

Workaround

Perform the restoration with the "AutoDomains" script disabled via the command-line.

/scripts/restorepkg --disable=AutoDomains /path/to/backup.tar.gz

Please note to replace "/path/to/backup.tar.gz" with the full path to the archive.
